Silk is one of the oldest and most valuable fabrics in the world and has a fascinating history that dates back over 8,500 years to ancient China. Silk is a long-lasting, biodegradable product, so unlike synthetic fibers it doesn’t stay on our planet forever.
We understand there is demand for more sustainable fabrics, as industries are becoming more aware of the impact of their purchasing decisions. As a result, we are continuously looking into increasing sustainable elements in our workforce and the production and sourcing of our products.
We aim to reduce the impact of our business on the environment and comply with environmental laws and regulations. Within Bennett Silks, we enhance the importance of reuse, recovery and recycling our off-cut materials to enhance waste minimalisation.
Within our workforce, we believe and promote, everyone should be treated with respect and be provided with a safe working environment.
We require that all our suppliers, wherever they may be in the world, disclose documentation in compliance with the following regulations:
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) A European regulation aimed at protecting human health and the environment from risks posed by chemicals. | ![]() |
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) A certification ensuring textiles are made with organic fibers and meet environmental and social criteria. Silk certified by GOTs is produced without harmful chemicals and adheres to fair labor practices. | ![]() |
